Privacy Policy
Last updated 15 September 2026
This Privacy Notice for Eiri Realta Limited ('Éirí Réalta', 'we', 'us', or 'our'), describes how and why we might access, collect, store, use, and/or share ('process') your personal information when you use our services ('Services'), including when you:
- Visit our website at eirirealta.com, or any website of ours that links to this Privacy Notice
- Use any Éirí Réalta mobile application that links to this Privacy Notice
- Use Éirí Réalta: an Irish dance community platform for dancers, parents and guardians, dance schools, teachers, professional dancers, feis organisers and businesses — including profiles, school and class calendars, class bookings and term plans, feis entries and results, messaging and group chats, and the Feis Fashion marketplace
- Engage with us in other related ways, including any marketing or events
Eiri Realta Limited is the data controller responsible for your personal information. Questions or concerns? Reading this Privacy Notice will help you understand your privacy rights and choices. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Services. If you still have any questions or concerns, please contact us at admin@eirirealta.com.
SUMMARY OF KEY POINTS
This summary provides key points from our Privacy Notice. You can find more detail about any of these topics in the full sections below.
What personal information do we process? When you visit, use, or navigate our Services, we process personal information depending on how you interact with us and the Services, the choices you make, and the features you use — for example your account details, profiles (including dancer profiles a parent adds), content you post, bookings and entries, marketplace activity, and payment records.
Do we process any sensitive personal information? We do not ask for special category information such as health, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs or sexual orientation. We do process information about children, such as young dancers' names, dates of birth, schools, grades, results, and photos and videos, and we apply extra protections to it — see section 2.
What about child-protection vetting? If you teach or coach, you may choose to state on your profile what type of vetting you hold (for example an Enhanced DBS or Garda vetting), and a dance school you teach at may confirm it has seen your certificate. We never ask for, and never hold, the certificate itself, its number, its dates, or the result of any check — so we do not process criminal offence data. We do not carry out vetting checks and make no assurance that any declaration is accurate.
Do we collect any information from third parties? Yes. Dance schools and teachers, feis organisers, other users, and our payment providers may give us information about you or your dancer — see section 1.
How do we process your information? To provide, improve, and administer our Services, take payments, keep children and other users safe, communicate with you, for security and fraud prevention, and to comply with law. We process your information only when we have a valid legal reason to do so.
In what situations and with which parties do we share personal information? With the service providers who help us run the Services, with other users according to your visibility settings, with the schools and organisers you book with or pay, and where the law requires. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
What are your rights? Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or download your personal information, and to object to or restrict how we use it.
How do you exercise your rights? The easiest way is to go to Settings → Privacy & Data in your account, where you can download your data or ask us to delete your account, or by emailing admin@eirirealta.com. We will act on any request in line with applicable data protection laws.
1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
Personal information you disclose to us
In short: We collect personal information that you provide to us.
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you register on the Services, set up a profile, add a dancer, take part in activities on the Services, or contact us. Depending on the features you use, this may include:
- Account details: name, username, email address, password, date of birth (to confirm age and apply our rules for young users), account type, country, and — if you choose to tell us — how you heard about us. Passwords are stored in encrypted (hashed) form by our authentication provider; we never see them.
- Parent or guardian details: when a young person signs up, the name and email address of their parent or guardian, so the parent or guardian can confirm the account.
- Profile information: profile photo and cover image, bio, location, dance school and teacher, grade, dance CV, professional or business details, and social media handles we use only to verify accounts (these are not shown publicly).
- Dancer information added by a parent or guardian: the dancer's name, date of birth, grade, school membership, photo-sharing consent choices, and who can see the dancer's profile.
- Content you create: posts, photos, videos, comments, congratulations cards, messages and group chats, competition results you add, goals, and reviews and ratings.
- Classes, bookings and entries: class bookings, term plans you join, attendance confirmations, feis entries, events you are going to, and appointments with businesses.
- Marketplace activity: listings (including photos, sizes and measurements), offers, orders, collection or delivery details, parcel tracking numbers, and ratings.
- Quote requests: if you ask an Irish dance act for a quote from its page, which you can do without an account, your name, email address, phone number if you give it, and the details of your event (such as the date, occasion, place, number of guests, budget and your message).
- Payments and subscriptions: your plan, billing history and amounts. Payments are processed by Stripe (or by Apple or Google if you subscribe through their app stores). We do not receive or store your full card number. If you receive payouts (for example as a school, organiser or seller), Stripe collects the identity and bank details it needs directly.
- Communications and choices: support requests, contact and notification preferences, and whether you want to receive product news.
- Settings: display preferences such as theme, time zone, currency, and saved search filters.
Information we collect automatically
- Technical information: your IP address (for security, preventing abuse, and working out your approximate country so we can show prices in your currency — for quote requests we keep only a scrambled version of it, to stop the same sender flooding the form), browser and device type, and pages visited. Website usage statistics are collected with Vercel Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and reports in aggregate.
- Push notifications: if you allow notifications, we store a notification token for your device or browser. You can turn notifications off in your device or browser settings at any time.
- Location: we do not track your device's precise location. We use your approximate country (from your IP address) to choose a currency. Locations you type in yourself, such as a class venue, are optional.
Information we receive from others
- Dance schools and teachers: for example approving your dancer's school membership, class registers and attendance, goals, and progress videos.
- Feis organisers: competition results they upload, which may include dancers' names and placings. A dancer or their family accepts a result before it appears on their profile.
- Other users: for example when someone tags a dancer in a photo (subject to the photo-sharing consent the parent or guardian has chosen), sends you a message, or leaves a rating.
- Payment providers and app stores: confirmation of payments, refunds, subscription status and payout account status.
Sensitive information. We do not ask for special category information. Please do not include it in posts, messages or other free-text fields.
All personal information that you provide to us must be true, complete, and accurate, and you must notify us of any changes to such personal information.
2. CHILDREN AND YOUNG DANCERS
In short: Many Éirí Réalta users are children. We give their information extra protection, and parents and guardians stay in control.
- Young dancers are usually added and managed by a parent or guardian, as dancer profiles within the parent's own account. A parent account must belong to an adult (18 or over).
- A young person under 16 who signs up for their own account must give a parent or guardian's email address, and the parent or guardian is asked to confirm the account.
- Parents and guardians choose who can see a dancer's profile (for example only their school, the dance community, or the public), and can switch on competition mode to hide it before major competitions.
- For dancers under 16, the choice about whether photos of them can be shared is the parent or guardian's to make, and we record who gave that consent and when.
- A child's date of birth is private to their household. Other users, including schools, see only information such as the age group they compete in.
- Professional profiles are only available to adults.
- We do not use children's information for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell it.
A parent or guardian can ask to access, correct or delete their child's information through Settings → Privacy & Data or by emailing admin@eirirealta.com.
3. HOW DO WE PROCESS YOUR INFORMATION?
In short: We process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, take payments, keep users safe, communicate with you, for security and fraud prevention, and to comply with law.
We process your personal information for the following purposes:
- To create and manage accounts, including confirming age and linking parents or guardians to young dancers.
- To provide the Services: profiles, school pages, calendars, class bookings, term plans, attendance registers, feis entries, results, messaging and group chats, the marketplace, notifications, and passing your quote request to the act you asked.
- To check quote requests before they are sent on: a request that contains links, looks like spam, or raises a safety concern is held and read by our team, and may not be sent to the act.
- To take payments and pay out: subscriptions, class bookings, feis entries and marketplace orders, including holding and releasing marketplace payments.
- To keep children and other users safe: applying our child-protection settings, moderation, reports and blocking.
- To communicate with you: account and booking emails, reminders, in-app and push notifications, and replies to support requests. We send product news and offers only if you have opted in.
- For security and fraud prevention: for example limiting repeated attempts to sign in or book, and investigating misuse.
- To improve the Services, using aggregated usage statistics.
- To comply with the law, including keeping financial records and responding to lawful requests.
- To save or protect an individual's vital interests, such as to prevent harm.
4. WHAT LEGAL BASES DO WE RELY ON TO PROCESS YOUR INFORMATION?
In short: We only process your personal information when we have a valid legal reason (legal basis) to do so.
If you are located in the UK or EU
The UK GDPR and the EU GDPR require us to explain the legal bases we rely on. We rely on:
- Contract. Where processing is necessary to provide the Services you have signed up for — for example running your account, taking a booking, or processing a marketplace order.
- Legitimate interests. Where processing is necessary for our reasonable interests and does not override your rights — for example keeping the Services secure, preventing fraud, protecting children and other users, showing results published by feis organisers, and understanding how the Services are used through aggregated statistics.
- Consent. Where you have given us permission — for example product news emails, push notifications, and photo-sharing choices. You can withdraw consent at any time. Where the law requires it for a child, we rely on the consent of their parent or guardian.
- Legal obligations. Where processing is necessary to comply with the law — for example keeping tax and accounting records, or cooperating with a law enforcement body or regulator.
- Vital interests. Where processing is necessary to protect someone's life or safety.
If you are located in Canada
We may process your information if you have given us specific permission (express consent) or where your permission can be inferred (implied consent). You can withdraw your consent at any time. In some exceptional cases we may be legally permitted to process your information without your consent — for example for investigations and fraud prevention, where required by a subpoena, warrant or court order, or where the information is publicly available as specified by the regulations.
5. WHEN AND WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?
In short: We share information with the service providers who help us run the Services, with other users according to your settings, and where required by law. We do not sell your information.
Service providers
These companies process personal information on our behalf, under contract, only to provide their services to us:
- Supabase — database and account sign-in (our database is hosted in London, UK)
- Vercel — website hosting and cookie-free usage statistics
- Stripe — payments, subscriptions, refunds and payouts
- Cloudinary — storing and delivering photos and videos
- Brevo — sending emails
- Upstash — security measures that limit repeated requests
- Google — maps and place search on event pages, and push notifications in our mobile app
- Apple and Google — in-app subscriptions, if you subscribe through their app stores
- Shippo — parcel tracking for marketplace orders
Other users
- Your profile, posts and dancer profiles are visible to others according to the visibility settings you choose.
- Dance schools you or your dancer join can see the information they need to run their school — for example who is a member, bookings, attendance and term plans.
- Feis organisers see the entries made to their competitions.
- In the marketplace, buyers and sellers see the names and collection or delivery details needed to complete an order.
- People in a group chat or conversation see the messages shared in it.
- Quote requests: when you ask an act for a quote, we send your name, email address, phone number (if you gave it) and your event details to the person who runs that act, so they can reply to you directly. We do not give you their personal contact details.
Schools, organisers, sellers and acts who receive your information to provide their own services to you are responsible for how they use it.
Other situations
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information where we believe it is required by law, or necessary to protect the safety of any person, including children.
- Business transfers. We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or part of our business.
6. IS YOUR INFORMATION TRANSFERRED INTERNATIONALLY?
In short: Our main database is in the UK, but some of our service providers may process information in other countries.
Some of the service providers listed in section 5 may process personal information outside the UK and European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where this happens, we make sure the transfer is protected — for example by relying on UK adequacy regulations (such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, where the provider is certified) or on approved contractual terms such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. WHAT IS OUR STANCE ON THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES?
In short: We are not responsible for the safety of any information that you share with third parties that we may link to but that are not affiliated with our Services.
The Services may link to third-party websites, online services, or mobile applications that are not affiliated with us. We do not make any guarantee regarding such third parties and will not be liable for any loss or damage caused by their use. A link to a third-party website, service, or application does not imply an endorsement by us. Any data collected by third parties is not covered by this Privacy Notice. You should review the policies of such third parties and contact them directly with your questions.
8. DO WE USE COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES?
In short: We only use cookies and similar storage that the Services need to work or that remember choices you make. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
This section is our cookie notice. We use:
- Sign-in cookies that keep you logged in and your account secure.
- Storage on your device that remembers choices you make — your display theme, time zone, tips you have already seen, and any marketplace listing you have started but not yet posted.
- Temporary page storage that makes pages load faster. It is cleared when you close the browser tab.
Because these are strictly necessary for the Services, or remember something you have chosen, we do not ask for consent before using them. If you block them in your browser, parts of the Services may not work.
Analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand how the Services are used. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, and reports in aggregate.
Google Maps. Where a feis or event page shows an embedded Google map, Google may set its own cookies when the map loads. See Google's privacy policy for details.
We do not use Google Analytics, advertising cookies, or tracking pixels. If that ever changes, we will update this notice and ask for your consent first.
9. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?
In short: We keep your information for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this notice, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
- Your account, profiles and content are kept while you have an account.
- When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within one month, except for the records below.
- Payment and transaction records are kept for six years, as required by UK tax law.
- Records needed to resolve a dispute, or to investigate a report about a user's safety or conduct, are kept for as long as that requires.
- Quote requests are kept while the act you contacted has an account with us. You can ask us to delete yours sooner by emailing admin@eirirealta.com — you do not need an account to ask.
- Competition results published by a feis organiser are part of that competition's record and may remain after your account is deleted, without being linked to your profile.
- Backups are overwritten on a rolling schedule.
When we have no ongoing legitimate need to process your personal information, we will delete or anonymise it or, if this is not possible (for example because it is stored in backups), securely store it and isolate it from further processing until deletion is possible.
10. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?
In short: We use organisational and technical measures to protect your personal information.
Information is encrypted in transit. Access is controlled so that people can only see what they are allowed to see — for example, a child's date of birth is visible only to their own household. Passwords are stored in hashed form, and card payments are handled by Stripe, which is certified to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. However, no electronic transmission over the internet or storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise that unauthorised third parties will never be able to defeat our security.
11. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?
In short: Depending on where you live — for example in the UK, the EEA, Switzerland, Canada, or some US states — you have rights that give you greater access to and control over your personal information.
In the UK and EEA you have the right (i) to access and obtain a copy of your personal information; (ii) to request correction or erasure; (iii) to restrict how we process it; (iv) to data portability; (v) to object to processing based on legitimate interests; and (vi) not to be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects. We do not make such decisions.
You can download a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account at Settings → Privacy & Data, or make any request by emailing admin@eirirealta.com. We will respond within one month.
If you are in the UK and are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. If you are in the EEA, you can complain to your local data protection authority (in Ireland, the Data Protection Commission). If you are in Switzerland, you can contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.
Withdrawing your consent. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time — for example by switching off "Send me product news and offers" in Settings → Privacy & Data, turning off notifications in your device settings, or emailing admin@eirirealta.com. This does not affect processing that happened before you withdrew consent, or processing based on another legal basis.
Account information
To review or change the information in your account, log in and go to Settings. To close your account, go to Settings → Privacy & Data. When we delete an account, we may keep some information as described in section 9 — for example to prevent fraud, resolve disputes, or comply with legal requirements.
If you have questions or comments about your privacy rights, you may email us at admin@eirirealta.com.
12. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES
Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and applications include a Do-Not-Track ('DNT') setting. No uniform technology standard for recognising and implementing DNT signals has been finalised, so we do not currently respond to them. We do not track you across other websites in any case. If a standard is adopted that we must follow, we will explain it in a revised version of this notice. California law requires us to let you know how we respond to DNT signals: because there is not currently an industry or legal standard for recognising or honouring them, we do not respond to them at this time.
13. DO UNITED STATES RESIDENTS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?
In short: If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Virginia, you may have the right to request access to and details about the personal information we hold about you, correct inaccuracies, get a copy of it, or delete it. These rights may be limited in some circumstances by applicable law.

We may also collect personal information when you contact our support team or take part in surveys, and to respond to your enquiries.
Will your information be shared with anyone else?
We disclose personal information to our service providers for business purposes, under written contracts — see section 5. We have not sold or shared personal information for targeted advertising in the preceding twelve (12) months, and we will not do so.
Your rights
Under certain US state data protection laws you have the following rights. They are not absolute, and in some cases we may decline a request as permitted by law:
- Right to know whether we are processing your personal data, and to access it
- Right to correct inaccuracies in your personal data
- Right to request deletion of your personal data
- Right to obtain a copy of the personal data you previously shared with us

Depending on the state where you live, you may also have the right to access the categories of personal data being processed, to obtain a list of the categories of third parties or specific third parties to which we have disclosed personal data, to limit the use of sensitive personal data, and to review and question how personal data has been profiled.
How to exercise your rights
Go to Settings → Privacy & Data in your account, or email admin@eirirealta.com. You can designate an authorised agent to make a request on your behalf; we may deny a request from an agent who does not provide proof that they are validly authorised.

When we receive your request, we will need to verify your identity. We will only use personal information provided in your request to verify your identity or authority to make it. If we cannot verify your identity from the information we already hold, we may ask for more information for verification, security or fraud-prevention purposes.
Appeals
If we decline to take action on your request, you may appeal by emailing admin@eirirealta.com. We will tell you in writing what action we have or have not taken in response to your appeal, and why. If your appeal is denied, you may submit a complaint to your state attorney general.
14. DO OTHER REGIONS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?
In short: You may have additional rights based on the country you live in.
Australia and New Zealand
We collect and process your personal information under the obligations and conditions set by Australia's Privacy Act 1988 and New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020. This Privacy Notice satisfies the notice requirements of both Acts, including what personal information we collect, from which sources, for which purposes, and who else receives it.
If you do not provide the personal information necessary for a purpose, it may affect our ability to offer you the products or services you want, respond to or help with your requests, manage your account, or confirm your identity and protect your account.
At any time you can request access to or correction of your personal information using the details in section 17. If you believe we are unlawfully processing your personal information, you can complain about a breach of the Australian Privacy Principles to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, or a breach of New Zealand's Privacy Principles to the Office of the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner.
15. DO WE MAKE UPDATES TO THIS NOTICE?
In short: Yes, we will update this notice as necessary to stay compliant with relevant laws and to reflect changes to our Services.
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated 'Last updated' date at the top. If we make material changes, we will tell you — for example with a notice in the Services or by email. We encourage you to review this Privacy Notice regularly.
16. HOW CAN YOU CONTACT US ABOUT THIS NOTICE?
If you have questions or comments about this notice, you may email us at admin@eirirealta.com or contact us by post at:
17. HOW CAN YOU REVIEW, UPDATE, OR DELETE THE DATA WE COLLECT FROM YOU?
Depending on the laws where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we collect from you, details about how we have processed it, to correct inaccuracies, or to delete it. You may also have the right to withdraw your consent. To review or update your information, go to Settings in your account. To download your data or request deletion, go to Settings → Privacy & Data. You can also email admin@eirirealta.com.
