Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and Eiri Realta Limited ('Éirí Réalta', 'we', 'us'). They apply whenever you use our website, our apps, or anything else we offer. Please read them. If you do not agree with them, please do not use Éirí Réalta.
We have tried to write them in plain English. Each section starts with a short summary — the summary is there to help you, but the full wording is what applies.
1. WHO WE ARE AND WHAT THESE TERMS COVER
In short: We are a UK company running a community platform for Irish dancing. These terms cover everything we offer.
Eiri Realta Limited is a company registered in England. Our address is at the end of these terms.
Éirí Réalta is a community platform for Irish dancing: profiles for dancers, schools, teachers, businesses and governing bodies; a calendar of classes, feiseanna and events; a marketplace for dancewear; and tools for keeping a dancer's record. We refer to all of it as 'the Services'.
Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your information and forms part of these terms. Some features have their own rules shown where you use them — for example the photo-sharing consent you give for a dancer. Where those rules say something more specific, they apply alongside these terms.
2. WHO MAY USE ÉIRÍ RÉALTA
In short: Adults can hold any account. Young dancers can have their own account with a parent or guardian's involvement. Some account types are for over-18s only.
We ask for your date of birth when you sign up, because our rules depend on age. You must give it honestly. We may ask you to confirm your age, and may restrict or close an account where we believe the stated age is wrong.
- A parent or guardian account is for over-18s. It can manage dancer profiles for children in the household.
- A young dancer can have their own account, with the email address of a parent or guardian, who is asked to confirm it. Until a guardian confirms the account, a young dancer cannot post.
- Under-16s are supervised. Posts a supervised dancer writes are held until a parent or guardian releases them, and some features — including direct messaging between adults — are not available to them.
- Professional, business, school and governing-body accounts are held by the adult responsible for them.
You may not use the Services if we have previously closed your account for breaking these terms, or if the law where you live prevents it.
3. CHILDREN AND YOUNG DANCERS
In short: Irish dancing is full of children, so this is the part we take most seriously. A parent or guardian is responsible for their child's account and decides what is shared.
If you are a parent or guardian, you are responsible for your child's use of Éirí Réalta, for the dancer profiles you create, and for the choices you make on their behalf. A household can have a second guardian, who has the same abilities as the first for day-to-day matters.
Photographs and video of a child are shared only with the consent you give, and that consent is the guardian's to give and to withdraw. A default setting is not consent; you are asked explicitly. You can change it at any time, and we will stop sharing going forward — though we cannot recall something that has already been seen or saved by somebody else.
A young dancer's profile visibility is theirs to propose and a guardian's to approve. A dancer under 16 cannot widen who can see their profile without a guardian agreeing.
If you believe a child is at risk, or that content on Éirí Réalta puts a child at risk, tell us immediately at admin@eirirealta.com. We will act on it as a priority, and we will involve the police or the relevant safeguarding authority where we think it is right to.
4. YOUR ACCOUNT
In short: Keep your details accurate and your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
Give us accurate information and keep it up to date. Keep your password secret, and tell us at admin@eirirealta.com if you think somebody else has access to your account.
Some things on your profile are set once and corrected only by asking us — a date of birth, for example — because other people's safety depends on them being right. You cannot transfer your account to somebody else.
One person, one account. A person may also hold or manage accounts for a school, a business or a governing body, and switch between them.
5. WHAT YOU POST, AND WHO OWNS IT
In short: What you post stays yours. You give us permission to show it on Éirí Réalta, to the audience you choose.
You keep ownership of everything you post — your photographs, videos, words, results and listings. You are responsible for it, and for having the right to post it.
By posting, you give us a licence to store, copy, adapt for display, and show your content on Éirí Réalta, to the people you have chosen to show it to. The licence lasts as long as the content is on the platform and for a short time afterwards in backups. We do not sell your content, and we do not use it in advertising without asking you.
You choose the audience. Where a post offers a choice — public, your school, your community, your family — we show it to that audience and no wider. Changing the audience later changes who can see it from then on.
Do not post anything you do not have the right to post. That includes photographs of other people's children without their guardian's agreement, music or choreography you do not have the rights to, and anything copied from somewhere else.
6. HOW YOU MUST BEHAVE
In short: Be decent. Irish dancing is a small world and this platform has children in it.
You must not:
- bully, harass, threaten or abuse anybody, or encourage others to;
- post anything sexual involving a child, or anything that sexualises a child, in any form;
- contact a child in a way a reasonable parent would object to;
- post anything unlawful, hateful, violent, or deliberately false;
- pretend to be somebody else, or claim a school, business or organisation that is not yours;
- take other people's information off the platform in bulk, scrape it, or use it to build a competing list;
- use the Services to advertise outside what your plan allows, or to send unsolicited messages;
- try to get around our security, our access rules, or the limits of your plan;
- upload anything containing a virus, or anything designed to damage the platform or somebody's device.
We may remove anything that breaks these rules and may close the account behind it. Where somebody has put a child at risk, we will act without warning.
7. SCHOOLS, ORGANISATIONS AND PAGES YOU CLAIM
In short: If you run a school, business or governing body page, you speak for it — and you are responsible for what it says and does.
Some pages can be claimed by the person or organisation they describe. By claiming one, you confirm that you are authorised to act for it. We may ask for evidence, and may remove a claim we believe is wrong.
Where you give other people permission to act for your page — a teacher who can add classes, an officer who can post — you remain responsible for what they do with it. Remove their permission when they no longer need it.
If you hold information about other people's children through Éirí Réalta — a class register, a group chat, contact details — you must use it only for running your school or organisation, keep it safe, and not pass it on. You have your own responsibilities under data protection law, separate from ours.
8. WHAT WE CHECK, AND WHAT WE DO NOT
In short: This is important. We are a noticeboard, not a vetting service. We do not check qualifications, background checks, or the people you meet through us.
We do not vet anybody. Where a profile shows a background-check badge (such as DBS or Garda vetting), that badge means the person has declared it and, in some cases, that their school has confirmed it. It is never a check carried out or verified by Éirí Réalta. You should satisfy yourself about anybody you deal with, exactly as you would if you had met them anywhere else.
We do not check qualifications, insurance or suitability of teachers, schools, adjudicators, professionals or businesses listed on the platform. A listing is not a recommendation.
We are not a party to arrangements between members. When you buy a dress, book a class, hire an act, arrange a place to stay or engage a professional, the agreement is between you and them. We provide the place where you found each other, and in some cases help the payment along — nothing more.
Where we describe a listing as 'verified', that means only the specific thing stated next to the badge — for example that we have confirmed an email address or a page's ownership. It never means more than it says.
9. PAID PLANS AND BILLING
In short: Plans renew until you cancel. You can cancel any time and keep what you have paid for to the end of the period.
Some features need a paid plan. The price, the billing period and what is included are shown before you pay, and that is what you are agreeing to.
Plans renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your billing settings. Cancelling stops the next payment; your plan keeps running until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Refunds. Ask from Settings → Payments & Subscriptions, where the amount is worked out for you before you ask. Two rules, and whichever is better for you is the one that applies:
- Within 30 days of paying — all of it back. Any plan, no reason needed.
- After that, a yearly plan is refunded pro rata — the whole months you have not used, counted from the day you ask. Part months are not refunded, and we do not backdate to when you stopped using it.
- A monthly plan runs to the end of the month you have paid for, and then stops. There is nothing to refund beyond the 30 days above.
We look at each request and email you. If we agree it, the money goes back the way it came — usually a few days to reach your bank — and the plan ends at that point, because the months you are being paid back for are the months you would otherwise still have.
All of this is in addition to your legal rights, which we do not take away. If you bought through the App Store or Google Play, they hold the money and refunds go through them rather than through us.
If a payment fails we will tell you and try again. If it keeps failing we may pause the paid features until it is settled. You keep your account and your content either way.
Where you subscribe through an app store, that store takes the payment under its own terms, and cancellations and refunds go through it rather than through us.
We may change our prices. If we change the price of a plan you are on, we will tell you before it takes effect, and you can cancel if you do not want to continue.
10. THE MARKETPLACE
In short: Buyers and sellers deal with each other. We hold the money until the buyer confirms the item arrived, and we step in if something goes wrong.
The marketplace lets members sell dancewear to each other. The sale is between the buyer and the seller. We are not the seller, and we do not own, inspect or hold the items.
Sellers must describe items honestly, own what they list, send what was bought, and send it promptly. Buyers must pay through the platform and confirm receipt once the item arrives.
How the money works. Payment is taken when the buyer buys, and held until the buyer confirms the item has arrived — then it is released to the seller. We charge a fee on sales, shown before you list.
If something goes wrong, raise it through the order. If buyer and seller cannot agree, we will look at it and decide whether to release the money to the seller or refund the buyer. We will be fair, and we will look at the evidence both sides give us, but our decision about the held money is final. It does not stop either of you pursuing the other by law.
Do not take a sale off the platform to avoid fees. If you do, we cannot help you when it goes wrong, and we may close your account.
11. CLASSES, EVENTS AND BOOKINGS
In short: The class is run by the school, not by us. Their rules on attendance, deposits and cancellation apply.
Schools, businesses, professionals and governing bodies use Éirí Réalta to publish classes, events, exams and feiseanna, and to take bookings. The arrangement is with them. Their own terms — on attendance, missed classes, deposits, refunds and behaviour — apply, and you should ask them if you are unsure.
Where you pay through Éirí Réalta, we pass the money to the organiser, less any fee shown at the time. Refunds for a cancelled or missed class are the organiser's decision under their own terms.
Details on the calendar are provided by whoever added them. Times, venues and prices change; check with the organiser before travelling.
12. ACCOMMODATION SHARING
In short: Members offering and taking places to stay around a feis arrange it entirely between themselves. We do not check anybody or anywhere.
Some members offer accommodation to others travelling to the same feis. We do not inspect the accommodation, check the people offering or taking it, or take any part in the arrangement. We do not hold the money and we are not an agent for either side.
Satisfy yourself about who you are staying with or hosting, exactly as you would anywhere else. Take particular care where children are involved, and never let a child stay with somebody you have not met and checked yourself.
13. RESULTS AND RECORDS
In short: Most results are entered by families. Only results imported by an organiser are shown as coming from the organiser.
A dancer's record is built from results and diary entries added by their family, and from results imported by a feis organiser. A result a family has added is their statement, not ours. We do not check it.
Where an organiser imports official results, a dancer accepts their own before it appears on their profile. We show clearly which results came from an organiser.
We may remove a result that is plainly wrong or that somebody has claimed dishonestly.
14. MODERATION, SUSPENSION AND REMOVAL
In short: We can remove content and close accounts. We will tell you why, unless telling you would put somebody at risk.
We do not read everything posted on Éirí Réalta, and we are not obliged to. Some content is checked automatically, and some is reported to us by members.
We may remove content, limit an account, or close it, where we reasonably believe these terms have been broken, where the law requires it, or where somebody is at risk. Where we can, we will tell you what we have done and why, and you can reply to us at admin@eirirealta.com. Where a child's safety is involved we will act first.
If you think something on Éirí Réalta should not be there, report it from the post or message, or email us.
15. ENDING YOUR ACCOUNT
In short: You can leave whenever you like. Deletion happens 14 days after you ask, so you can change your mind.
You can ask us to delete your account from Settings → Privacy & Data. Deletion happens 14 days after you ask, so there is time to change your mind, and you can cancel it during that period. We email you when you ask and again shortly before it happens.
If you run a school, business or organisation page, it is taken offline and its content stored rather than destroyed, so the people who depend on it are not left with gaps. Where money is still moving — an open order, a booking not yet completed — deletion waits until that is settled.
Some information stays after deletion where the law requires it, or where it belongs to somebody else as well as to you — a transaction record, for example, or a message in somebody else's conversation. Our Privacy Policy explains this.
We may close an account that has broken these terms, as set out above.
16. OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO YOU
In short: We will do our job properly, and we do not limit our responsibility where the law says we cannot. But we are not responsible for what other members do.
We will provide the Services with reasonable care and skill. We cannot promise the platform will always be available or free of faults, and we may change or withdraw features.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. If you are a consumer, you keep all your legal rights, and nothing here affects them.
Otherwise, and so far as the law allows: we are not responsible for what other members do or fail to do, for goods or services you obtain from them, for arrangements you make through the platform, or for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you started using the Services. Where we are responsible, our liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period and £100.
If you are using Éirí Réalta for a business, you agree to cover us for claims brought against us because of what you posted or did.
17. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
In short: We will tell you before anything important changes.
We may update these terms — when the platform changes, or when the law does. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Éirí Réalta after that means you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, you can close your account.
18. WHICH LAW APPLIES
In short: The law of England and Wales, and you can always bring a claim where you live.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the protection of the law where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
19. HOW TO CONTACT US
In short: Email us. We read it.
For anything about these terms, your account, or something you have seen on the platform, email admin@eirirealta.com, or write to us at:
